New York, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Péter Szijjártó, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade on the sidelines of the minister's participation open debate meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East and the Palestinian cause. The meeting discussed the close ties and cooperation between the two countries and the their progress. It also touched on the means to further develop bilateral cooperation in various political, economic and investment fields within the framework of the joint agreements between the two countries in many fields, and the efforts of the joint high ministerial committee between the two countries. The two sides discussed the latest developments in the regional situation and their repercussions on international peace and security, the situation in the Gaza Strip and Arab and international efforts to reach a ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid, and advancing the peace process in the Middle East to a chieve a just and lasting peace in the region. Dr. Al Zayani reviewed with his Hungarian counterpart the outcomes of the Arab summit that was held by Bahrain, and the initiatives of the "Bahrain Declaration" announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the president of the current session of the Arab Summit, and adopted by the summit, including the call for an international peace conference in the Middle East to resolve the Palestinian cause in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy. The two officials underscored the importance of supporting efforts to establish a just and comprehensive peace in the region and meet the aspirations of its peoples for security, stability and prosperity.
