Palestinian medical sources have announced the martyrdom of four people and the injury of seven others in an Israeli shelling that targeted a gathering of citizens in the vicinity of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip. In a related context, the Ministry of Health said that the Israeli occupation forces refuse to coordinate the entry of medical teams affiliated with the emergency campaign for vaccination against polio in the areas east of Salah al-Din Street, on the first day of the campaign in the southern governorates of the Gaza Strip. It stressed the presence of a large percentage of the targeted group of children in these areas, and appealed to all institutions and concerned parties to intervene urgently to make the vaccination campaign a success by reaching all children in their places of residence. The Ministry of Health announced last Wednesday the completion of the first phase of the vaccination campaign in the central Gaza Strip, in which 189,551 children were vaccinated, and the secon d phase will begin Thursday. At the end of last July, the Ministry of Health announced that the Gaza Strip was an epidemic area for polio after it was discovered in sewage water in the south and center of the Strip, which it considered a health threat to the residents of Gaza and neighboring countries and a setback to the global polio eradication program.
