Manama, Dr. Maryam Athbi Al Jalahma, CEO of the Government Hospitals, has announced the allocation of a dedicated ward for female patients suffering from sickle cell anaemia (SCA). Dr. Al Jalahma emphasised that the establishment of this ward aligns with Government Hospitals' commitment to providing the highest standards of medical care, particularly for SCA patients. The initiative aims to optimise resource use to meet the specific health needs of these patients. The ward is equipped with 18 beds, each featuring a vital signs monitoring system, allowing for continuous patient monitoring and improving the overall quality of care. In February, Government Hospitals inaugurated a day care unit for women with hereditary blood disorders at Salmaniya Medical Complex. This unit, which includes 12 beds, an examination room, and areas for triage, treatment, and consultation, was established to provide specialised services for female SCA patients.
