The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced early Wednesday that its political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh was killed in the Iranian capital Tehran. In a statement, the faction said that its leader "was killed in a treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran after participating in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president." The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported a short while ago, quoting a statement by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, that Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed after the building where they were staying was targeted by an Israeli raid.
