Manama, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, today, at Al Sakhir Palace, met with His Excellency Bashar Al Assad, the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, on the sidelines of the 33rd Arab Summit. His Excellency expressed appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended by His Majesty and for his kind invitation to attend the Summit. His Majesty welcomed the Syrian President, and thanked him for accepting the invitation to participate in the Bahrain Summit. The meeting discussed the close relations between the two countries and means to enhance cooperation for common interests. His Majesty and the Syrian President expressed their wishes for the success of the Arab Summit in advancing joint Arab efforts, unity of stances, solidarity, and address all challenges to uphold peace, security, and stability in the region. Additionally, they discussed regional and international developments, particularly the situation in Syria.
