Manama, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), issued Decision (12) of 2024, amending the name of the Women's Committee in Fintech to "Women's Committee in Information and Communication Technology and Modern Sciences." The decision, based on the Royal Decree (44) of 2001 establishing the Supreme Council for Women and its amendments, and Decision (21) of 2020 on the Women's Committee in Fintech, was made following the recommendation of the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women. The committee, chaired by Her Highness Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, a member of the SCW, will include experienced professionals from relevant fields, with members appointed by the Secretary-General of the council. According to Article 3 of the decision, the committee's responsibilities include proposing general policies, programmes, and initiatives to support women's participation in ICT and modern scien ces, achieving gender balance in these promising sectors, and suggesting improvements and mechanisms for incubation services. It will also propose studies and surveys to enhance women's involvement in these fields and establish performance indicators for periodic evaluation. The committee will submit its reports and recommendations to the President of the Supreme Council for Women for approval. Source: Bahrain News Agency
