Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, on Tuesday, called on the representatives of the Iraqi House of Representatives to promptly elect a new Speaker of the Parliament. In a post on X platform, Rashid urged the Iraqi lawmakers to choose a new Speaker of Parliament as soon as possible to ensure that the Iraqi Parliament fulfills its legislative and oversight functions and that Iraqs citizens enjoy decent and dignified living standards in a secure and prosperous country. The Iraqi House of Representatives couldn't be able to elect its speaker during a session held in May 2024, following the decision took by the Iraqi Federal Court in November 2023, to end the membership of two representatives.
