Tokyo, The Japanese government has adopted a policy against the development of fully autonomous lethal weapons, stressing that such weapons should never be allowed globally. A Japanese Foreign Ministry official stated that Japan submitted a paper to the United Nations in May, emphasising the need to maintain a human-centric approach and the responsible use of emerging technologies. Japan currently believes there are no guarantees that autonomous lethal weapon systems would comply with international humanitarian laws, and that there is no intention of developing such weapons. Global concerns over autonomous weapons are growing, with increasing calls for regulatory frameworks as the deployment of combat drones becomes more common in conflicts. Source: Bahrain News Agency
