Lebanon: Lebanese military units, in coordination with the five-member committee supervising the ceasefire agreement and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), continued their deployment in several points in the town of Kfar Shouba, Hasbaya, in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Lebanese army stated that the deployment is part of ongoing efforts to implement the terms of the ceasefire agreement. This involves completing the deployment in the area south of the Litani River immediately following the withdrawal of Israeli forces, and ensuring the implementation of Resolution 1701 and its provisions.
The army's statement emphasized the importance of avoiding areas vacated by Israeli forces, adhering to military unit instructions until deployment concludes, and allowing specialized units to conduct engineering surveys and clear mines and suspicious objects left by Israeli forces.
The ceasefire agreement, sponsored by the United States and France, was signed on November 27. It mandates the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern villages and towns within 60 days from the truce's commencement.
