Manama, Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, and Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah), signed a framework agreement focusing on renewable energy and energy efficiency. The agreement involves the Ministry providing technical support and advice to Edamah on integrating renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions in the company's facilities and buildings. Humaidan stated that the framework is part of the Ministry's efforts to implement Bahrain's NREAP. It also reflects Edamah's commitment to adopting renewable energy and improving energy efficiency as part of the national sustainability efforts. He added that Edamah's move to utilise renewable energy sources aligns with the national framework to optimise and ensure the sustainability of energy resources. The minister thanked Edamah for its efforts in embracing renewable energy and benefiting from NREAP, particularly in solar energy systems, which have adva nced with modern solar panel technologies. Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of Edamah, expressed his appreciation to the minister and the ministry's team for their efforts in advancing the targets of Bahrain's NREAP. He reaffirmed Edamah's commitment to employing renewable energy sources to ensure resource sustainability, optimise energy use, and promote the green economy, in line with Bahrain's goal of reducing emissions by 30% by 2035 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. Bahrain's NREAP aims to contribute 5% of renewable energy to the total energy mix by 2025, increasing to 20% by 2035. The NREAP targets a 6% improvement in energy efficiency by 2025.
