Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) paid tribute to the winning students in 8th Arab Reading Challenge. HE Undersecretary of the MoEHE Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi and CEO of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Dr. Abdulkareem Al Olama honored the outstanding schools nationwide, along with the winners of the first ten and first third places in the reading challenge from students with disabilities, outstanding school supervisors and stellar school supervisors at the stage level. Schools that were ranked first included Al-Khwarizmi Primary School for Girls, followed by Jaber Ben Hayaan Primary School and Harvard American School, with the student Abdul Rahman Jamal Muhammad Al Jaber from Omar Bin Al Khattab Secondary School For Boys being crowned the title of the Arab Reading Challenge champion at the level of the State of Qatar. Also, ten students won the second to tenth places in this contest. Addressing the honoring ceremony, Director of Curriculum and Learning Resources Department at MoEHE Sarah Issa Al Shuraim noted the critical role of the reading challenge in the Arab region, in terms of graduating a contingent of pioneering students, whose number has reached over 148 students from both genders hailing from 363 public and private schools. Al Shuraim congratulated the winners for their immeasurable steadfast performance, perseverance, and proclivities for reading, praising the efforts of the curators and those operating in Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and wished them further success. For his part, Dr. Abdulkareem Al Olama recommended the student parents to essentially educate them in their early stage of childhood with the aim of expanding their knowledge and help them internalize simple reading skills, since the Arabic language is rich in words unlike any other language.
