Manama: The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) welcomed ratifying and promulgating Law (6) of 2024, amending provisions of the Correction and Rehabilitation Institution Law promulgated by Law (18) of 2014, following the approval of the Shura Council and the Representatives Council. The law signifies a tangible advancement in enhancing human rights within Bahrain's correctional and rehabilitation centres, a statement by NIHR said. Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, President of NIHR, said that the amendments introduced by the law contribute to further upholding the rights of inmates, particularly by allowing other groups of visitors to visit inmates and improving healthcare services within correctional facilities. Al Derazi emphasised NIHR's commitment to implementing the amended provisions and enhancing its cooperation with relevant entities to uphold human rights. Source: Bahrain News Agency
