Qatar Basketball Federation Unveils New Statutes and Disciplinary Code for Future Development

Doha: The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) adopted its new statutes during a supplementary session of its Extraordinary General Assembly meeting for the 2025-2026 sports season. The meeting witnessed participation from the Federation's president, board members, representatives of member clubs, and a representative of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC).

According to Qatar News Agency, the newly adopted statutes signify a crucial advancement in refining and improving the Federation's institutional operations. These statutes were crafted to align with the latest international trends and best practices, forming part of a strategic vision for 2025-2030. The statutes focus on four main pillars: adhering to international developments and global sporting standards, ensuring compliance with current regulations, legal and technical restructuring, and streamlining procedures to enhance clarity and operational efficiency.

The statutes emphasize governance of responsibilities within the federation, promoting integration and harmony in performance, and endorsing principles of integrity, transparency, and sustainability. Mohammed Saad Al Mughaisib, President of QBF, highlighted that adopting these statutes is a strategic move towards building a robust institutional sports model to address future challenges and elevate Qatar's regional and international basketball standing. He urged all member clubs to implement its provisions to foster development and competitiveness.

Al Mughaisib further stated that this initiative was executed in coordination with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and in collaboration with the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC). It aims to build an integrated system based on good governance principles, including integrity, compliance, and transparency, while also promoting sportsmanship, fairness, and social responsibility.

Following the General Assembly session, the QBF Board of Directors, chaired by Al Mughaisib, convened to officially adopt the 2026 Disciplinary Code and appoint committee heads and members. Amer Saeed Al Ghafri was named Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, and Dr. Nouf Abdullah Al Mohannadi was appointed Chairman of the Appeals Committee. This move highlights the Federation's dedication to establishing a modern oversight system that fosters fairness and transparency in Qatari basketball, supporting the nation's future sporting goals.

Al Mughaisib stressed that the 2026 Basketball Disciplinary Code is part of this broader development framework. It was developed in line with international standards and regulations, providing it with organizational strength to effectively enforce a disciplined and equitable sporting environment, thereby supporting the pursuit of sporting excellence in Qatar.
