Doha: HH the Amir Cup basketball tournament for men, a leading local championship, is set to commence tomorrow, Wednesday. The tournament is known for bringing together top clubs in a direct battle for a prestigious title that concludes the season.

According to Qatar News Agency, the opening match will take place at the Qatar Basketball Federation Hall in Al Gharafa, featuring Qatar SC and Al Khor in the preliminary round. The winners of this match will advance to face Al Arabi next Sunday in the quarterfinals.

The tournament will proceed with two quarter-final matches next Saturday at Al Gharafa Club's arena. Al Ahli will compete against Al Wakrah in the first match, while Al Sadd will face Al Shamal in the second match. The quarter-finals will conclude next Sunday with two additional matches at Al Gharafa Sports Club's arena, featuring Al Gharafa against Al Rayyan, and Al Arabi against the winner of the Qatar SC and Al Khor match.

The semi-finals of HH the Amir Cup are scheduled for Monday, May 4. The semi-final matchups will involve the winners of the earlier rounds, leading to the final, which is set to be held on Wednesday, May 6.

It is noteworthy that Al Rayyan claimed victory in the previous edition of the tournament for the 2024-2025 season, defeating Al Arabi 77-70 in the final match at the Al Gharafa Arena.
