New delhi: The State of Qatar actively participated in the 18th Plenary Meeting of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes held in New Delhi, India. The meeting saw the involvement of over 170 countries and international organizations, emphasizing global cooperation in tax matters.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari delegation was led by HE President of the General Tax Authority (GTA), Khalifa bin Jassim Al Jaham Al Kuwari. The delegation highlighted Qatar's commitment to enhancing its legislative and regulatory framework to improve tax compliance, particularly in areas such as Exchange-on-Request (EOIR) and Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information (AEOI). The delegation also emphasized efforts in digital transformation within tax systems and the development of compliance and oversight tools.
During the meeting, Qatar's delegation engaged in various panel discussions and side events, focusing on global advancements in combating tax evasion. The discussions included the role of transparency in optimizing tax-collection efficiency and increasing domestic revenues. Additionally, they reviewed other countries' experiences in applying international standards and strengthening national capacity.
Qatar's participation underscores its active role in international forums on tax governance and its dedication to promoting tax transparency principles. The nation aims to enhance information exchange mechanisms in alignment with international standards and remains committed to collaborating with global partners to establish a fairer and more transparent global tax system.
