Tunis:Qatar Media Corporation’s Qatar Radio recently participated in the 37th meeting of the Permanent Radio Committee of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), convened at the union’s headquarters.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar Radio, which serves as the second deputy chairman of the committee, was represented by Jaber Mohammed Al Sorour, Director-General of Qatar Radio.
The meeting addressed preparations for the 27th Arab Radio and Television Festival, planned for 2027, focusing on the main and parallel radio competition categories to be shared among member states. Additionally, participants discussed organizing an open media day supporting the Palestinian cause and resilience of Jerusalem, slated for November 29, with Qatar Radio designated as the central broadcaster in collaboration with Palestinian Radio.
Furthermore, the committee reviewed plans for World Radio Day 2027, with Qatar Radio also selected as the central broadcaster for this event, scheduled on February 13. Discussions extended to developments in the digital media landscape, radio content security, and strategies for protecting intellectual property rights.
