Doha: QatarDebate Center will conclude its summer camp in Education City on Thursday, which it organizes to create opportunities for social and mental growth and enrich the cognitive content of participants through accompanying events and activities. The camp focuses on developing leadership and teamwork skills among students between the ages of 10 and 13 years, helping them develop new friendships, developing their skills, taking them out of the routine atmosphere of study, and introducing them to a more enjoyable and beneficial atmosphere, which enhances their communication and interaction with others and develops social skills and adaptation to different life situations. In this context, trainer Farah Al Harbi (from the State of Kuwait) confirmed that the camp covered various topics and enrichment activities, including presenting plays as a model for debate that presents the problem to arrive at reasons and solutions, noting that the focus was on four skills: critical thinking, debate, public speaking, a nd group work. She also noted the spirit of harmony among the participants since the first day, as it is one of the most important components of success and one of the basic skills of the debate, pointing to the importance of the summer camp in improving academic performance, as she urged parents to encourage their children to join it in the future, and to benefit from the activities and skills it offers. The camp, in which 30 participated, will conclude Thursday with a mini-tournament of three rounds within criteria appropriate to the content at hand.
