Qatari publishing houses participating in the Riyadh International Book Fair 2024 are making a notable presence at the event, showcasing prominent literary and intellectual works of authors from Qatar. The State of Qatar is this year's guest of honor, with the book fair featuring 2,000 publishing houses from 30 Arab and foreign countries, and is running from September 26 to October 5. Represented by the Ministry of Culture and several Qatari publishing houses, Qatars participation stems from its commitment to partake in international book fairs, which serve as an opportunity to promote Qatari intellectual production to a wider audience and highlight the continuous development of the publishing industry in the State of Qatar, in addition to enhancing cooperation and exchange of experiences with professionals in the culture and publishing domains. In this context, Head of Marketing and Sales at Qatar University Press Sheikha Shaikha Al-Thani told Qatar News Agency that the academic publishing house is partic ipating in the book fair with over 80 titles, including 16 new 2024 releases, covering various fields including academic publications, business management, law, sociology, Sharia, philosophy, history, among others. She stressed the commitment of QU Press to participate in important Arab cultural events and promote its diverse publications. In turn, Ayman Abdulsamad of Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Press told QNA that this is the fourth HBKU Press participation in the Riyadh International Book Fair, presenting over 604 titles this year, including academic works, books on lifestyle and health, science fiction and children's literature, in addition to books on self development, novels, translated works, and research works from leading scholars in the region. Abdulsamad added that HBKU Press is committed to continuing its support to Qatari and Arab talents, placing increased emphasis on Arabic literature and narrative, and participating in book fairs worldwide. Over 200 events and activities will accompa ny the Riyadh International Book Fair 2024, including panel discussions, poetry evenings, workshops, storytelling sessions, activities for children, theatrical performances, and the book talks event hosting influential thinkers and authors.
