HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the People's Republic of Bangladesh Saree bin Ali Al Qahtani affirmed that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Dhaka represents a significant milestone in the process of bilateral relations between the two countries, which extends for half a century, and embodies the mutual aspiration to move towards developing the ties in various fields. In a statement, His Excellency told Qatar News Agency that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the People's Republic of Bangladesh coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which have reached a distinguished level of cooperation and partnership in many fields, prompting more communication and building on the achievements achieved during this journey. The visit reflects the insight and sound vision of Qatar's wise leadership, which is keen to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the State of Qatar and various countri es of the world, in a way that enhances mutual interests and advances efforts for development, peace and global stability, HE Ambassador Al Qahtani added. He stressed that the visit of HH the Amir opens broad horizons of cooperation and partnership in the economic, trade and investment fields, especially in sectors that represent a priority for the two countries, thus pushing their relations towards more close and sustainable cooperation. His Excellency said that several agreements and memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed in several fields significant to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. He pointed out that the State of Qatar and the Republic of Bangladesh have witnessed many prosperous milestones, as well as steady development over half a century in light of the mutual keenness to push them forward to reach the level of cooperation and partnership they have achieved in many fields. He noted the many areas of cooperation that have witnessed great momentum over the p ast years, including the energy field, indicating that Qatar is the largest supplier of liquified natural gas to Bangladesh, which is the backbone of the economy, as it contributes to meeting its energy needs, and supports its development plans. Cooperation in the field of labor has also witnessed growth over the past years, he said, explaining that Qatar has attracted and provided job opportunities for thousands of workers from Bangladesh. The total of Bengali workers approximates 400,000 workers who receive great attention and care, he said, commending their contribution to the development process that the State of Qatar has been witnessing. In a related context, His Excellency said that the volume of trade exchange between the State of Qatar and Bangladesh reached more than $2 billion in 2023, which reflects the continuous growth of trade exchanges. He also expected the volume of these exchanges to increase in the coming years, in light of the two countries' keenness to grow and develop them to serve th eir common interests. His Excellency noted the cooperation in the investment field, and said that the two countries are keen to enhance cooperation in this field, pointing out that there are many investment opportunities that could be attractive to Qatari investors in this country, which has a developed and dynamic economy. HE Qatar's Ambassador to Bangladesh concluded his statements by emphasizing that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Dhaka will inaugurate a new phase in the process of bilateral relations, in which existing cooperation in many fields will deepen, as well as opening doors for cooperation and partnership in new fields that serve mutual interests and achieve the aspirations of the leaderships and peoples of the two countries.
