Doha: Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) signed a new partnership through the signature of a core contribution agreement to support OHCHR's budget in 2024. Under this agreement, QFFD will provide a contribution of USD 750,000 to assist OHCHR in advancing its vital work in promoting and protecting human rights globally. The contribution from QFFD will significantly strengthen OHCHR's ability to address critical human rights issues, enhance its capacity-building initiatives, and support its mission to uphold the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This collaboration reflects QFFD and the State of Qatar's ongoing commitment to promoting human rights and supporting international efforts to create a more just and equitable world. This contribution strengthens efforts to advocate for the rights of the most vulnerable, address global human rights challenges, and advance shared goals. The funding from QFFD will be allocated towards critical areas, including strengthening national human rights institutions by enhancing their capacity to protect human rights at the national level, advancing gender equality by supporting initiatives that empower women and girls, protecting marginalized communities by addressing their needs and rights, and promoting human rights education worldwide. It exemplifies the strategic partnership between QFFD and OHCHR, aiming to foster sustainable development and uphold human rights for all. Source: Qatar News Agency
