Riyadh: The Meeting of Ministerial Committee Assigned by Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Developments in Gaza Strip has issued the "Riyadh Statement" which expressed its efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire, release the prisoners and hostages, end the war on Gaza and all unlawful and unilateral measures and violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including East Jerusalem. The statement called for addressing the catastrophic humanitarian crisis and underscored the importance of transition to a political track to reach a political solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The discussion was centered on the concrete steps towards establishing the Palestinian statehood, in the context of two-state solution, and underscored the pressing need for taking such steps and coordinating stances, the statement reads. It affirmed that the meeting discussed the issue of recognizing the Palestinian statehood by countries that have not yet recognized, along with the timing and context of this recognition. The meeting stressed the importance of adopting an overarching approach towards a reliable and irreversible track to implement the two-state solution, in accordance with the international law and agreed-upon standards, including the United Nations Security Council, Arab Peace Initiative and other relevant initiatives with the aim of achieving a just and enduring peace that meets the rights of Palestinians and the security of Israel and the region, paving the way for natural relations among nations in a region where stability, security, peace and cooperation can prevail, according to the statement. Additionally, the meeting affirmed the need for intensifying the efforts of supporting the establishment of the new Palestinian statehood, along with the need for the existence of one Palestinian government in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and Gaza.
