Jerusalem - Ma'an - Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said before the Spanish House of Representatives on Wednesday that recognizing a Palestinian state is "a geopolitical interest for Europe." Sanchez reiterated that Spain is ready to recognize a Palestinian state, without setting a date for that. He stressed that Israel's completely disproportionate response in the Gaza Strip to the Hamas attack last October 7 threatens "the stability of the Middle East and the entire world," according to what was reported by international news agencies. The Spanish government said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will meet with a number of his counterparts in the European Union during the next week to try to rally support for the recognition of a Palestinian state.
