New York: Major stock indices on the US Wall Street closed higher at the end of Monday's trading session.

According to Qatar News Agency, the S and P 500 index finished up by 42.70 points, or 0.80 percent, closing at 5,406.06 points. The Nasdaq Composite gained 107.78 points, or 0.64 percent, to close at 16,832.24 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 312.82 points, or 0.78 percent, ending the day at 40,525.53 points.
